President of Global Fleet for UPS

Carlton Rose is president of Global Fleet Maintenance & Engineering for UPS. He is responsible for all facets of global automotive engineering, including inventory management; safety performance; procurement of a vehicle fleet of package cars, tractors, trailers, and containers, and airport gateway ground support equipment, totaling more than 350,000 pieces.
His responsibilities also include vision and
strategy development, training and education, cost planning, cost analysis, people development, and career and succession planning. He leads a team of nearly 8,000 managers, supervisors, and technicians who support the more than 454,000 UPS employees around the world. He oversees an annual budget of more than $2 billion, not including fuel expenses.
Mr. Rose began his UPS career in Indiana in 1980 as a package handler. A graduate in automotive engineering from Lincoln Technical Institute, he was later promoted to automotive technician, before serving as a package car driver for nearly four years. As a skilled technician, accomplished driver, and team leader, he was quickly promoted into management as an automotive line supervisor and later to automotive fleet manager.
His experience with UPS includes key leadership assignments in package operations, industrial engineering, plant engineering, and sales. He has held director assignments in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Georgia. He was promoted to senior staff manager as the Southeast Region Automotive Group Manager in 2002, and to the same role for UPS’s Central Region in 2009.
In 2012, Mr. Rose was promoted to vice president of Corporate Fleet Maintenance for U.S. Operations. He was promoted to his current position in 2016.
He is a graduate of UPS’s prestigious Community Internship Program, through which he spent a month at the Henry Street Settlement in New York City, working with people who were living in poverty, disadvantaged and in need. That experience still guides his leadership approach today. Mr. Rose led the UPS Southeast Region’s United Way campaign in 2006 and 2007, raising more than $12 million for the organization during that time. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence in Atlanta, Ga., and previously served on boards for the Quad County Urban League in Aurora, Ill., and for the Star Struck
Foundation in Atlanta, Ga. He is also an inductee in the Lincoln College of Technology Hall of Fame. He is the son of the Rev. George and Virginia Rose.
