Andy moved from Iowa to Marion at age 4. Encouraged by her parents, Bill & Evelyn Everroad, at MHS she played flute in the freshman band, appeared in WMTV morning news, roles in plays and musicals and with the ground-breaking 26thSt. Singers. After attending Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, she began her professional singing career on PBS and national tours with famed showman, Fred Waring & his Pennsylvanians. She has soloed on concert stages from the Kennedy Center and the White House, to the Bob Hope Cultural Center, and has met and sung for three Presidents of the United States: Nixon, Reagan and Bush 41. Her national anthem was broadcast around the world in the Desert Storm homecoming of Gen. Norman Scharzkopf & the troops. She was featured on ABC’s Television Hall of Fame special, inducting Dick Clark. Andy’s long-running night club act appeared nationally and in residence at the five-star Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Florida. For 25 years, Walt Disney Entertainment extensively employed Andy’s talents in television specials, soundtracks, shows, the grand openings of EPCOT, Disney-MGM Studios, Disney’s Wide World of Sports, and in live special events nationwide. With Disney’s All-American College Orchestra, she opened for Broadway legends and Tony Award winners, including Rita Moreno, Carol Channing, and Marvin Hamlisch. Andy added the roles of adjudicator and guest artist for music education events across the country, including as judge of Miss America in Atlantic City. Bringing Disney creativity to higher education, for 7 years Andy led the Univ. of Oklahoma to be a pacesetter in first-generation, K-8college awareness and the visitor experience. At the U.S. Air Force Academy, she mentored cadet families through the challenging service academy experience. Andy is proudest of her long marriage and loving family with Rich Taylor, former Disney Entertainment Vice President and college dean, and their two great sons& families: Blake, a professional television writer, and Zane, a decorated combat pilot. She and Rich now consult as Rich Imagination, LLC. This MHS honor is cherished and humbly dedicated to Andy’s dream team of teacher/innovators who taught excellence and the work ethic to achieve it. They include the legendary band director, Joe Guth, the passionate Jim Carr, dynamic directing team of Jim Moritz & Lee Brown, and show choir pioneer, F. Ritchie Walton. Of special importance, is her life-changing 5thgrade teacher, Robert Brunner.
