After graduating from Marion High School, Emma pursued Bachelor of Arts degrees in dance and sociology/anthropology from Denison University, a Masters of Fine Arts degree in dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Graduate Laban Certificate in Movement Analysis from Columbia College Chicago. Emma is a dance artist, educator, and scholar navigating spaces of identity and contemporaneity. She has performed for Natya Dance Theatre and Mordine & Co. and has served on the faculty at Columbia College Chicago, Northwestern University, and Carthage College. Emma’s own choreographic work has been presented around the Midwest, New York City, and the United Kingdom with broad grant support. Scholarly work has been presented at New York University and World Dance Alliance-Americas. In 2013 she curated the Braiding Rivers Festival uniting 10 Indian dance artists in a three-weekend performance series. Emma strongly believes that it is through movement we can most authentically know our own Voice.
