Rusty Gorman made his feature film-directing debut from his original script Home of the Giants, inspired by the time he spent at Marion High School as a student-athlete and a huge Marion Giants fan. The film stars Academy Award nominee Haley Joel Osment, Ryan Merriman, and Danielle Panabaker. Before taking the helm, Gorman directed second unit on the independent feature Madison, starring Jim Caviezel and Bruce Dern. As of 2018, Gorman was directing second unit on the Netflix Original The Last Summer, starring KJ Apa. He has also directed a number of nationally-televised commercials, including Teva Sports Sandal's Free Your Feet, which won a Telly award. He directed the pilot for Hotel California, a scripted reality show for Salient Media, Last Drop of Sunlight, a music video for artist Frank Scura, and Caves of Fear, a CD-ROM interactive game film for Atari and Warner Bros. As of 2018, Gorman was directing live television programming for the recently launched all-sports network Stadium. Gorman's background includes production experience on commercials, music videos, and feature films including The Abyss, Miracle Beach, Think Big, and Zombie High. He also co-produced three short films starring Chris Elliot through Stone Soup Productions for the David Letterman Show. Gorman also has written a number of feature scripts with partner Jon Felson, including Food of the Gods, based on the novel by H.G. Wells, for Universal Pictures; Drone, based on a short story by T.C. Boyle; First Ghost for Columbia Pictures; and No Quarter Given for Andrew Vajna’s C2 Pictures. Gorman also wrote Season of Life, based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jeffrey Marx, for Balance Vector Productions; The Contender, based on the novel by Robert Lipsyte, Peter McAlevey of Thunderbird Films producing; and Kentucky Blues, for HBO, which he wrote and is co-producing with William Bindley. He most recently wrote Gangs North, a feature-length documentary for Resolution Digital Studios.
