Alisha A. Alaimo, Marion High School Class of 1993, is President and Head of North America for Biogen, a leading global biotechnology company that has pioneered multiple breakthroughs to treat multiple sclerosis, rare diseases, Alzheimer’s and more.

Over her 25-year career, she has earned recognition for growing and turning around organizations up to $7B in annual revenue. She is an accomplished global executive, and her focus on patients, culture and colleagues has consistently led to strong business results. A thought-leader in healthcare, she frequently keynotes conferences hosted by The Economist, Financial Times, Amazon and others. In 2022, she was named a top 10 Heroes Women Executive Role Model by YouTube, for advocating for women in leadership and championing the power of inclusive cultures to drive business results. As a Board Member of the Biogen Foundation and Community Lab, she leads the vision and investments to support the next generation of leaders in underserved communities.

Prior to joining Biogen, Alaimo spent 17 years at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the U.S. With increasing roles of responsibility, she focused on driving growth and people development in the company’s high-profile, priority franchises including cardiovascular, metabolic, autoimmunity, rare disease, transplant and neuroscience. Alaimo started her career at Johnson & Johnson. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Emory University and has completed courses at Harvard University and Tufts University in clinical pharmacology, drug development and regulation, and business finance.

At Marion High School, she was a standout student and athlete.

Alaimo was a member of the Marion High School chapters of National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society and was involved in student government. She also was a delegate to the American Legion Auxiliary’s Hoosier State program. She was also named Homecoming Queen.

She earned Academic All-State honors in both gymnastics and diving and went to state finals in both sports all four years of high school. In gymnastics she was named All-State in 1991, 1992, and 1993 in the all-around competition. In 1993 she competed in a national meet at the Olympic training center. She also ran track at Marion High School.

In diving, she still holds two school records. She continued diving at Emory University, where she earned All-American honors and helped lead her team to 9th place in the country.
