Outstanding Science educator for Marion
Professor at IWU

David “Dave” Tippey, Marion High School Class of 1969, is an outstanding science educator who has taught at Marion Community Schools since the 1970s and also teaches at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is dedicated to his students’ development as scholars and as people of character. He also has been a mentor to younger teachers, including student teachers, helping to shape the quality of local education long into the future.
Tippey is a graduate of Marion College (Indiana Wesleyan University) and Ball State University.
During his time at Marion Community Schools, he has taught at both the middle school and high school levels, most recently for many years at Marion High School. He is a respected and well-loved teacher who helps his students rise to high expectations. He goes above and beyond the duties of the job to help students succeed, and he has also provided leadership development opportunities to many.
He is also an adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan University, and he supervises student teachers for IWU as well. He has also served as a mentor teacher for Marion Community Schools, helping to lead professional development.
In his free time, he has developed a substantial talent for woodworking, and he has built three houses and remodeled several others.
Tippey is vice chairman of the local Board of Administration for Brookhaven Wesleyan Church and has held several other local, state, and national church offices.
