Jerry D. McVicker, Marion High School Class of 1963, was an educator who served Marion Community Schools for 35 years. He also served as a bank director for 25 years.

After graduating from Marion High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. He then returned to Marion as a social studies teacher and coach at Jones Junior High starting in 1968.

He would go on to earn his Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees at Ball State University.

In the 1973-74 school year he served as Dean of Boys at Jones, and then the following school year served as Assistant Principal at McCulloch Junior High School.

For the next decade he served as Director of Personnel for Marion Community Schools, helping many other educators find their way into Marion classrooms over the years.

Starting in 1986, he served as Principal at Riverview Elementary School. Then, in 1990, he moved into the role of Vice Principal at Marion High School.

In 1996 he returned to district administration as the Director of Operations. He served for a few months as interim superintendent in 2000, and then again in the 2002-2003 school year. He retired from Marion Community Schools in June 2003.

He also served on the Boards of Marion Capital Holdings and First Federal Savings Bank. After a merger with Mutual Bank, he helped play a role in the rapid growth of the bank. Mutual Bank grew to become one of the largest community banks in Indiana with over $2 billion in asset size. Jerry served on the Boards of Mutual Federal Savings Bank and MutualFirst Financial Inc. as MutualBank's first Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit/Compliance and Nominating Committees. He retired from these Boards in 2018.

Jerry and his wife Debbie, currently live in Satellite Beach, Florida. Their children Judge Jason D. McVicker, Jamie Dee McVicker and Justin T. McVicker all graduated from Marion High School.
