Richard “Rick” Harris, Marion High School Class of 1965, was a longtime local business leader, owning Matthews Buick in Marion for nearly 40 years. He has also been an active philanthropist and community leader.
Harris earned his bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University School of Business, then returned to Marion and became an active local leader.
In addition to owning a thriving business from 1976 through 2014, he served on boards for many organizations and is a past board president for the Grant County Community Foundation, Marion General Hospital, the Grant County Family YMCA, and Grant County State Bank. He also was a board member for the New Car Dealers Association of Indiana and was named Dealer of the Year by TIME Magazine.
Harris has also been a strong supporter of several other local organizations, including the Community School of the Arts, Family Service Society, the Grant County animal shelter, the Salvation Army, and more.
